Medical Weight Loss & Nutrition in Hillsboro & Lake Oswego, OR

A physician-supervised program that combines nutritional counseling, lab work, and medical support to help you reach your health goals safely. Provided by Dr. Rosalia Juarez, ND, in English and Spanish.

Medically Supervised Weight Loss & Nutrition

Sustainable change starts with understanding what is happening inside your body. At Amaranta, our nutrition and weight management program is led by Dr. Rosalia Juarez, ND, a licensed naturopathic doctor and primary care physician. Rather than a one-size-fits-all diet, your care is built on lab work, a full health history, and a plan designed around your individual goals and medical needs.

Because Dr. Juarez practices both conventional and naturopathic medicine, she can address the factors that often make weight and metabolic health difficult to manage on your own, including thyroid and hormonal influences, blood sugar, nutrient status, and digestion. Medication may be incorporated when it is clinically appropriate, always alongside nutrition and lifestyle support. Care is available at both our Hillsboro and Lake Oswego offices.

Why Choose a Physician-Supervised Program

Working with a licensed physician means your plan is grounded in your actual health data, not guesswork. Dr. Juarez completed a four-year doctoral program at the National University of Natural Medicine and is licensed by the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine. She can order and interpret lab work, account for medications and existing conditions, and adjust your plan safely over time.

The goal is healthy, lasting change rather than quick fixes. Patients receive ongoing follow-up, honest guidance, and a program that respects their whole health. If a different approach or a referral is the right step, Dr. Juarez will tell you.

What the Program Includes

Nutritional Counseling

Personalized, realistic nutrition guidance based on your labs, health history, and goals, designed to support energy, metabolism, and long-term wellness.

Lab Work & Evaluation

Blood work and a physical exam to identify the underlying factors affecting your weight and metabolic health, so your plan addresses the real causes.

Lifestyle Coaching

Sustainable guidance on movement, sleep, and daily habits that support healthy, lasting results without extreme or restrictive measures.

Medical Support

When clinically appropriate, prescription support is incorporated under physician supervision as one part of a comprehensive plan.

Weight Loss Treatment Options

At Clinic Amaranta, weight loss treatment is delivered with the same physician-supervised, individualized care that guides the rest of your visit. Here is what to expect and an overview of the medical treatment options Dr. Juarez may discuss with you.

Before & During Treatment

A complete physical exam, specific labs, and a thorough review of your medical history are required prior to starting weight loss treatment. Ongoing nutritional counseling and consistent follow-ups are required to continue treatment.

Weight loss medications are prescription drugs designed to help people living with obesity or overweight lose weight when combined with diet and exercise. The most effective options are GLP-1 receptor agonists, which reduce appetite and slow digestion to help you feel full longer.

FDA-approved medications generally fall into two main categories: injectable GLP-1s / GIP agonists, and oral weight-loss pills.

Injectable Medications

GLP-1s / Dual Agonists
Tirzepatide (Zepbound®)
A weekly injection that targets both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Clinical studies show it can help people lose up to 15% to 20% of their body weight.
Semaglutide (Wegovy®)
A weekly GLP-1 injection. It generally helps patients lose up to 15% of their initial body weight and is also approved to lower cardiovascular risks.
Liraglutide (Saxenda®)
A daily GLP-1 injection that requires once-daily dosing.

Oral Medications

Pills
Semaglutide Pill (Wegovy®)
An oral version of semaglutide taken as a once-daily tablet.
Phentermine
A daily oral capsule that functions as an appetite suppressant.
Naltrexone-bupropion (Contrave®)
A twice-daily tablet that combines medications used to treat addiction and depression to reduce cravings.

The medications listed are FDA-approved options that Dr. Juarez may discuss based on your individual evaluation. The right choice depends on your medical history, health goals, and overall situation.
